The CA8336 is a complete power quality analyzer for demanding analysis and logging of all power and energy parameters, as well as transients, on electrical distribution networks. The CA8336 can be used in all 1- and 3-phase applications, for both DC and AC voltage, and is suitable for analyzing industrial and electrical power plants. It is used where measurement of all phases and the neutral, along with long logging times at high resolution, are desired.
The CA8336 has a large and clear color display with Swedish menus. All measured values are shown momentarily over a period of 20 ms, and it also has a fully automatic scaling function for all parameters.
All measurements and power calculations are performed in half-periods (10 ms), with a selectable integration time between 1 s and 15 min, which provides the highest resolution.
Additionally, 10 ms min, max, average, and peak values are always shown during the period. This is because the sampling rate is a full 12.8 kHz, i.e., 256 measurements per period. The fast sampling rate also makes it possible to measure after a frequency converter with the CA8336.
All current clamps connected to the CA8336 are automatically recognized by the instrument and can be freely mixed during a logging session. Ratios on both the current and voltage sides can be set. For measurements on the secondary side of current transformers, MN93A type current clamps are used.
The CA8336 is the complete power analyzer with all measurement and logging functions, such as vector diagram, alarm, and screenshot functions. All types of power can be measured: active, reactive, and apparent, both inductive and capacitive. This can be done per phase or as the total sum power. The CA8336 also measures harmonics, both THDr and THDf, up to the 50th, as well as the distortion factor. The CA8336 also measures total harmonic content, power factor, cos φ, tan φ, crest factor, long- and short-term flicker, consumed and generated energy, k-factor, factor K, and voltage imbalance.
With the inrush current measurement function, measurements can be made for up to 10 minutes on current, voltage, and frequency. The built-in transient detection can save up to 210 transients to memory and display them on the screen. During transient detection, all parameters that the instrument can log are also stored over 4 periods: 1 before and 3 after the transient occurred.
The memory in the CA8336 is large, and it comes with a 4 GB memory card as standard, which is sufficient for 128 days of logging all parameters with a 5 s integration time. Settings, recordings, and screenshots are stored in the memory and can be transferred to a PC via USB or to a memory card reader.
Analysis and reports are handled with the included Swedish and license-free software DataView. All measurement data can also be exported to Excel.
