Product description

High-precision testing for battery cells, LICs, and EDLCs – designed for AI, automotive, and energy storage applications

The Chroma 17010 is an advanced test and measurement system for lithium-ion batteries (LIB), lithium-ion capacitors (LIC), and electric double-layer capacitors (EDLC). It combines exceptional measurement accuracy with a flexible architecture, ideal for product development, quality assurance, and high-volume production environments.

The system is available in two main configurations:
  • Linear series – for ultra-low noise and high-accuracy measurements of small and medium-sized energy storage components.
  • AC/DC regenerative series – for energy-efficient discharging with minimal heat generation, suitable for large cells and high-current testing.

Key Features
  • Measurement accuracy up to ±0.001 % of full scale (F.S.)
  • Fast data sampling: 1 ms transient, 10 ms report interval
  • Dynamic parallel connection of up to 96 channels, supporting up to 1200 A
  • Waveform simulation for realistic load profiles (e.g., acceleration, regenerative braking)
  • Energy recovery with AC/DC regenerative circuitry (>80 % DC efficiency)
  • Full support for Hybrid Pulse Power Characterization (HPPC), DVA, ICA, and Coulombic Efficiency
  • Compatible with chambers, dataloggers, and external safety systems (e.g., smoke detection)

New Feature (from Q3 2025): LIC Testing per IEC 62813
With the growing demand for lithium-ion capacitors (LICs) in AI data centers and advanced energy systems, Chroma has updated the 17010 platform to fully support:
  • IEC 62813 test procedures: capacitance, DCIR (internal resistance), and cycle durability
  • Automatic DCIR calculation using two methods
  • Time resolution down to 1 ms for accurate transient capture
  • Current range from 200 μA to 2400 A, including pulse discharge up to 4800 A (with 17010H)

These capabilities position the 17010 as a market-leading solution for LIC quality testing in demanding applications like Capacitor Energy Storage Systems (CESS) used in AI infrastructure.

Battery LEx Software
The system is powered by Battery Lab Expert (Battery LEx) – a robust test management platform offering:
  • Multi-level test recipes (up to 50,000 steps)
  • Full control of variables, real-time monitoring, and chamber integration
  • Automated test data analysis, plotting, and report generation
  • Email alerts, user access management, and advanced protection features

Applications
  • AI data centers and GPU backup power (LIC/CESS)
  • Electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, battery manufacturing
  • Stationary energy storage systems (ESS)
  • R&D, quality testing, product development
  • Compliance testing per IEC, GB/T, and USABC standards
